Terms of Use
Last updated 21 August 2026
These terms govern your use of the Played application for iPhone and iPad. Installing or using Played means you accept them. Because Played is distributed through the App Store, Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement also applies; where these terms are silent, that agreement fills the gap, and where the two genuinely conflict on a point of licence, Apple's prevails.
The licence
You are granted a personal, non‑transferable, revocable licence to use Played on devices you own or control, for as long as you comply with these terms. The app is licensed, not sold. You may not redistribute it, resell it, rent it, reverse‑engineer it beyond what the law expressly permits, or remove its notices.
What Played is, and what it is not
Played is a player. It provides no audio, no catalogue, no streaming service and no store: everything you listen to is a file that is already yours, held in storage you already control. Played reads those files where they are and never copies, moves or uploads them.
Removing something inside the app removes the app's reference to it, not the file. Even so, you are responsible for your own backups: Played is not a place your recordings are stored, and it cannot restore a file you delete elsewhere.
Your content, and your right to it
You are responsible for the files you play and for having the right to play them. Do not use Played with material you are not entitled to use. We never see your files, so we cannot police this and we do not try to — the responsibility is yours.
Played Premium
The free version of Played includes one folder location and one playlist, along with playback memory, bookmarks, clips, transcripts, CarPlay, AirPlay and casting. Played Premium is an auto‑renewable subscription that lifts those limits and adds two things: the Library, browsable by artist and album, and the ability to edit a file's title, artist and album — for one file or a whole selection at once — with suggestions from Apple Intelligence.
- Plans and price
- Yearly at €9.99, or monthly at €1.99. Prices are set per country in the App Store and the amount shown to you at purchase is the one that applies. Family Sharing is included on both plans.
- Renewal
- Each plan renews automatically for the same period unless cancelled. The App Store charges the renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
- Cancelling
- Manage or cancel at any time in your App Store account settings, on the device. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your access continues until the period you already paid for ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Changing plan
- Moving from monthly to yearly takes effect immediately and the App Store prorates it. Moving from yearly to monthly takes effect at the next renewal.
- Refunds
- Purchases are handled entirely by Apple, so refunds are Apple's to give. Request one through reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no access to your payment details and cannot issue refunds ourselves.
- If Premium lapses
- Nothing is deleted. What you created beyond the free limits stays in the app, waiting behind a padlock, until you subscribe again or trim back down to the free tier — whereupon the oldest of what you kept unlocks on its own.
Apple Intelligence features
Transcripts and tag suggestions are produced by Apple's on‑device frameworks and require a device, system version and region where those frameworks are available and enabled. Their output is generated text: it can be incomplete or wrong, and it is offered as a draft for you to check and edit. Do not rely on it where accuracy matters without reading it first. Availability is Apple's to decide and may change with a system update.
Acceptable use
Do not use Played to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to attack the feedback service — no attempts to gain access you were not given, no automated flooding, no interference with other people's reports. Abusive use of the feedback service may have its access withdrawn.
Third‑party services
Casting uses Google's Cast framework and depends on your own network and on Google's service. AirPlay and Bluetooth are the system's. Cloud files depend on the provider that holds them. None of these are ours to guarantee, and we are not responsible for their behaviour or availability.
Changes to the app
Played is updated over time. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn — including, if a platform change forces it, features described on this site. We will not remove a paid capability from an active subscription period without a good reason and a word about it in the app.
No warranty
Played is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind beyond what the law requires and cannot exclude. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, that it will work with every file, provider, car or Cast device, or that it will be free of defects.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for loss arising from files you deleted or moved outside the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by these terms.
Termination
You may stop using Played at any time by deleting it. We may withdraw the licence if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken. Withdrawal of the licence does not, by itself, refund a subscription period; Apple's refund process is the route for that.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of Spain, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live, which continue to apply in full.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. A change that affects what you pay or what the subscription includes will be announced before it takes effect, and never applied retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
